Electrify Everything
Built using repurposed electric vehicle batteries, it supports a wide range of applications: C&I, micro-grid, data center, mobile, emergency power, and more.
Second-life batteries refer to EV batteries that have concluded their primary role in powering vehicles yet retain ample capacity and longevity for further use. Rather than discarding or recycling them, these batteries are given a new purpose in different applications. This approach prolongs their service life and enhances their overall value.
Smartville is always looking for EV batteries with useful service life remaining. The first step is to assess a battery’s health, which we do with Smartville’s Periscope, an easy-to-use, in-field battery assessment tool. Once we have determined that a battery is suitable for repurposing, we perform further qualification before integrating it into our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), the Smartville 600.
For our Smartville 600™ BESS, we source top-tier electric vehicle traction batteries and add system integration and control interfaces that take advantage of the advanced thermal/electrical performance of the batteries designed for harsh vehicular operating conditions. With prescribed applications, Smartville 600 BESS system targets over 2000 cycles or a 10-year service life.
Smartville 600™ is the most sustainable, domestically manufactured with a secure supply chain. By using domestically sourced EV batteries, Smartville 360 derives maximum value from retired batteries and reduces the waste stream associated with rising EV adoption.
Many retired EV batteries have significant life and value left in them when extracted from a vehicle. Every year, thousands of batteries are recycled or sent to landfills that might be better put to repurposing. For most uses, repurposed batteries offer the same usefulness at a reduced economic and environmental cost.
