Smartville is a rapidly growing renewable energy company located in sunny Carlsbad, CA. Smartville Inc. is repurposing batteries from electrical vehicles for the stationary storage market by developing novel and sustainable energy storage solutions to improve the circular energy market.

The Role

Smartville is seeking an experienced and energetic Staff Engineer to join our Smartville Team. As a Staff Engineer, you will be working on the development of Smartville’s product platform. The candidate will be well-rounded, enthusiastic, and have at least 2 years’ working experience. The candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills. and will be proficient in local jurisdiction requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Technical Degree (Bachelor or higher qualification) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • 2 years’ experience and familiar with the technical aspects of machines, equipment, and technology used in energy storage systems (ESS)
  • Basic knowledge in battery technologies, power electronics, mechanical design, and software operation
  • Understanding and proficiency of local district requirements, fire code, UL, NFPA, and other regulations etc.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-function coordination skills
  • Previous experience as a field service engineer or similar role is a big plus.

Responsibilities

  • Staff Engineer will be responsible for engineering development of Smartville’s product platform.
  • Providing technical support on ESS product safety and reliability evaluation and qualification including FMEA, thermal control, UL standards certification.
  • Responsible for technical documentation preparation including manuals and instructions of company ESS products.
  • Participate in preparing product tests and installation plans.
  • Providing technical coordination and support to engineering teams and product development.
  • Implementing best practice engineering methods in ESS building process and quality control.
  • Communicate with clients to determine needs and explain complex issues.
