Smartville Periscope™ is an easy-to-use, in-field battery assessment tool that allows stakeholders to easily determine the health, value, and safety of end-of-life EV batteries, streamlining the battery reuse and repurposing process.

Smartville Periscope™ is portable, self-powered, and datalink communications enabled, allowing battery assessors to test in-vehicle or extracted batteries onsite with automated data collection. Periscope is equipped with a powerful data backend that offers comprehensive reports on battery performance, value, and safety guidelines, based on data and modeling clusters from large data samples.

Smartville Periscope™ is meant for EV and EV battery stakeholders to gain insight into health, value, and safety. Auto recyclers and dismantlers can use Periscope™ to determine if EV batteries are viable for reuse or repurposing. Auto auctions or marketplaces can use Periscope™ to gain data transparency of their end-of-life (EoL) vehicle battery inventory, in order to improve customer confidence. First responders, firefighters and emergency medical services, and towing and transportation companies can use Periscope™ to determine the condition and safety of a vehicle/battery, and determine the best guideline for material handling and shipping.

The test can be completed within seconds of connecting to the vehicle OBD2 port or battery data port. Connection time varies by vehicle make and model; however, the process is relatively quick and simple.

It is important to note that the Smartville Periscope™ test directly interprets the OEM Battery Management System (BMS) data. The BMS report, especially health estimation has varying degrees of accuracy depending on automaker and vehicle condition. The Periscope provides data transparency and high-level screening for battery stakeholders. However, it is not a definitive assessment of battery health nor predict battery remaining life. Periscope provides an initial assessment suitable for quick decisions in the field.
